GHC women have won the GB Student Championships 2008, held in Nottingham over the weekend.

They defeated Nottingham, Leeds and Manchester but lost narrowly to Oxford in the group stage.  The semi final was a good open game against Manchester and then defeated Oxford in the final to retain their title and won the match ball too.

First up, the men.  2009 started with a bump losing 36-26 to an impressive Tryst team, but bounced back with 41-23 victory over Liberton and then defeating Cumbernauld 29-26 in a very close encounter.

The women continue their winning streak by defeating Tryst 30-14 and then Edinburgh 36-6 in a pretty one sided match.  Cecilia Simonsen was superb in both matches and gets the player of the match award for both games.  Well done Cecilia!

After disappointingly having to concede last weekend's match v Dundee due to being unable to field a team, GHC women's next game was a league decider against Tryst in Cumbernauld on Wednesday 17 December.  GHC won 34-19 in which the game was decided in the second half as Tryst were only able to score 6 goals.

Evianne Brandon made her debut in goals and her good positioning and key saves in the second half kept Tryst at bay for long enough for the court players score enough goals to win.

Top scorers were Christin Rennie (9), Birte Rieter (6) and Anita Hansen (6).
