Welcome To Glasgow Handball Club

The Glasgow Handball Club was founded in the September of 2000 by Alasdair "Baba" Anderson and Kepa Mendibil and was one of the founder teams of the new Scottish Handball League.
Glasgow HC started with a only a Men's team of 10 players. We have now grown to a Men's and Ladies section of over 30 players and will continue to grow. We currently train at Hutcheson Grammar School in the South Side of the city.
The remaining players from that first season is Andy Burns. Kepa Mendibil returned to the club for the 2010/11 season.
Glasgow HC is coached by Andy Burns, Danos Sagias and Fransisco Cuellar.
Our main sponsor is Home Bar, based in Glasgow Merchant City area.
2012 ABUHC Student Championship In Brief

First off congratulations to the GHC ladies for winning the non-student element of the tournament with a hard fought semi final win against our friends and host Manchester (6-3) and final against Bath (11-8).  The men also got to our final but lost to Manchester again, this time the game wasn't as close.  SCore to be confirmed.

The ladies had a 100% record in their Saturday games, defeating Oxford 21-9 and Warwick 20-6 in 30 minute matches.

The defense was always tight, but in typical GHC style took 5 minutes to get going but there was never any chance of losing.

Nae defensive worries with this 13-10-8 combo

It was slightly different for the men who drew the opening match and won their next two in 20 minute matches and lost their final game on the sunday to still progress to their final.

The banana's input was very important :)

2012 Mens and Ladies League Update

Sorry for the lack of updates to the site of late.

In short, the ladies remain in second place due to three defeats to Edinburgh, the most recent of which being a must win but Edinburgh won convincingly 34-15.  Edinburgh played really good handball and were the deserved winners.

Although still mathematically possible for the ladies to retain their league title, it is highly unlikely.

Next up is the rescheduled Tryst game tomorrow at Blackburn at 2.30pm.

It's a similar story for the men as they lost back to back games to Tryst before / after Christmas.  The Gracemount game 2 weeks ago gave us some belief again due to a hard fought victory, but due to injuries and suspension against Tryst in the following game last week, Tryst effectively wiped the floor with us and won very convincingly.

2011 Update
Written by Andy Burns
Tuesday, 27 December 2011
Well Christmas is over and we're in the pre-New Year period where excessive behaviour and eating is still kinda ok.  I've been updating the website and realised it's been a wee while so a couple of match reports have been written and the leagues updated.

The last games in Tryst had mixed fortunes for the club as the ladies defeated Tryst 35-10, whereas later in the day the men lost to Tryst 35-26.

The ladies lose Margrethe Svenstrup for the rest of the season as she returns to Denmark for her studies and a new men's player Joao Cruz joins from Portugal to join the ranks.

Everyone is looking forward to the ABUHC run Student Championships held in Manchester on the weekend of 18/19 February 2012.  Click here for details.
